Paolo Di Canio has had his fair share of controversy during his illustrious playing career but nobody can argue about his ability with a ball at his feet. After 11 years playing football in his homeland, Di Canio arrived in British football and went on to remain their for 8 years, scoring a total of 90 goals. Di Canio's first taste of English football came when he signed for the Owls in 1997 for £4.2m and he went on to became a firm fans-favourite at Hillsborough. He scored a total of 23 goals for Wednesday and was famously involved in an incident which saw him push referee Paul Alcock to the ground after he had shown him a red car. Di Canio will long be remembered by the Hillsborough faithful.
